METHEA Officers
METHEA is priviledged to have Tim and Jennifer Collins on board as Assistant Area Coordinators. Their decision to home school began at the beginning with Anna, their eldest. Now, eleven years later, they have a 10th, 7th, and 3rd grader all homeschooled. Unlike some families, they were fortunate to have the support of family, especially Jennifer's mother. The homeschooling experience and godly leadership of the Collins will be an asset to our organization and local homeschoolers. Like all moms, Jennifer has her favorite curriculum. These include Saxon, ABeka, and Tapestry of Grace. The girls have their favorite subjects as well. Grace and Jessica love to read. While Anna is learning Spanish and enjoys algebra thanks to a great algebra teacher. All three look forward to evenings with Dad who apparently can make reading any story a fun time.   Tim and Jennifer recently celebrated their 20th anniversary. They keep busy hiking, gardening, homeschooling, and spending time together with family and friends. Get to know the Collins family. We are sure you will be encouraged and inspired by them in your homeschooling journey just as we have.
The MacIsaac Family

Hi, I'm Wareen MacIsaac. My husband's name is John. My children's names are Ian, Joshua, Aimee, Rebekah, Ruth, Ceilidh, Kyle, and Holly. We have been married for 17 years. We have lived in Tennessee for the past 9 years. I am the secretary for Mid-East THEA. We have been home schooling since Ian was three. That was 13 years ago. I have used various curriculum. Mixing and matching curriculum has done well for us because no one child learns exactly like another. But one thing I did for reading, for all my children, was to use my favorite starter book for beginning readers and that is 100 Easy Lessons . My children all started with this book and didn't make it to the last lesson before they were reading well. I think one of the most important things to remember about home schooling is that life is a school and there are a million more lessons to learn that are not in a textbook than there are in them. I have a schedule and for the most part I adhere to it. But, when an opportunity to learn something new, or more of what we have learned arises,I try to incorporate it into my schedule. We are instructed to teach our children at all times, and I love it. They go where I go almost all of the time. Every outing has had some lesson to learn, especially manners. This area cannot ever be completed. We live in a world that is so lacking in manners that we have to try to show our children how to deal with ill-mannered people and not become one of them. We look to God for our strength and guidance to raise our children up to be His servants here in His kingdom on earth.

We've been homeschooling since… well, the start. Before our son Isaac was born, I was already thinking about his education. Eddie, my husband, was set on private Christian education. I on the other hand was praying about homeschooling. My prayer became that if home schooling was God's plan for our family, then the Holy Spirit would speak to Eddie's heart as well. I'll always remember one morning at the breakfast table when my hubby ask me if I would pray about teaching our 18 month old son, Isaac. Wow! It was clear to me that God was calling our family to home school. I could never have imagined the blessings that were in store for our family. Seeing Isaac accept Jesus Christ as his person savior is our highlight. Eddie and I are both excited and encouraged by our local home school community. It is an honor to work with you and the THEA organization.
